The Problem The idea of this whole project is based off the fact that we have seemed to have lost our personal / human touch due to the overwhelming growth of technology. We spend more time on electrical gadgets than we do with our friends/ family so the green zone is an escape from the world of technology. The Concept The Logo was inspired by dandelions, after reading a fact that dandelion seeds can spread 5 miles from their flower, I wanted people to drift/fly far away from technology and get in touch with nature. The Logo is created from a circular font I created called “Dande”, the idea behind the font was inspired by the circular shape of Dandelions and is created directly from circles. The Solution The solution was to start an awareness campaign on technology addiction and offer a solution known as “The Green/Escape Zone”. The Green Zone would be an optional section found at your local restaurant, bars or coffee shops where it will be a no phone zone and you can enjoy your dinner with your family, friends or date with no distractions. It’s not a solution to technology addiction but for those who know the frustrations of trying to talk to someone on your phone it will make dining more enjoyable. Depending on the success of the project, a system will be set out with local activity companies such as zoo’s, leisure centers or even gyms, whereby if you chose to go green you will receive 10% off all these listed activity centers. This helps give tech addicts a distraction hopefully they will spend less time on their gadgets and trying other healthier activities.
